The reason why we went to war in Afghanistan is that we are trying to get Osama bin Laden.
The reason we went to war in Iraq? "Oil"

I would make another sarcastic remark about 9/11, but I think everyone has the corner on that already. The war in Afghanistan came first, and as everyone said, 9/11 is the answer. As for Iraq...please pick up a history book and read it (they don't bite). Appeasement (or ignoring) dictators, does not work! The result of such lead to WWII. Britain and France sit back and said Hitler won't do anything crazy...he just wants to control his own country...and we all know how that went down. Was Saddam another Hitler? Let's see...terrorist, check...genocide, check...crazy, ummm...check. Did we really want to let this guy keep on, keeping on? Only if we wanted to fight a much larger war, on somebody else's terms with a guy who seems slightly smarter than Hitler (which would be scary). For those of you who say oil, please open your eyes and READ A HISTORY BOOK!!!!! You will see that the US has not taken ANY territory/industry since prior to WWII as a result of a war. You should believe the history books (they are written by liberals).

a misguided effort to gain a foothold in the middle east and have alternative military bases to the ones in Saudi Arabia. The 911 answer is BS although a case could be made for afghanistan. 911 had NOTHING to do with invading Iraq since Al-Qaeda and Sadam's government were fundamentally opposed to each other other than not likeing the US. a search for terrorists would have turned up much more in supposed allies like Saudia Arabia, Yemen or Pakistan.

Maybe you should be asked a question. Here's one for you.
If you were president of the country and a group of Muslim fanatics bombed your country causing thousands of deaths and billions of dollars of damage. Your Intelligence Service traced the training and financing of the whole operation to Saddam in Iraq. You know that without a strong response there will be many many more such bombings.
As president, what would you have done ?

WAKE UP PEOPLE!!!...I know you hate Bush, but the fact still remains that after 9-11 CONGRESS voted to declare a WAR ON TERRORISM!!

America needed direly to make a STRONG military statement in the area, and has done so. The News Media is NOT telling the GOOD side of the story. America is making HUGE gains daily in reduction of the Terrorists' ability to wreak havoc on us! The problem is that US policy forbids the brutal War Tactics that I fear are necessary to get these IDIOTS attention. Too many people forget that in WW-II women, children and babies were killed DAILY by bombs and fire. We need to place LESS importance on the collateral damage, and focus more on demonstrating how SERIOUS we are about this, and WIN this damned conflict!

War is ugly...A nasty, detestable thing...But WE WERE ATTACKED!!...To preserve our way of life, we must DESTROY the enemy...and it won't be easy!!...We need to turn our military loose, and let them handle it. Stop playing politics with our FREEDOM!!

Note to self: There is not such thing as a dumb question...There is not such thing as a dumb question...There is not such thing as a dumb question...

There, if I say it enough I can tolorate the stupidity long enough to answer your question...OK, Here is your answer the best way I can answer it:

"Gee, I don't know"...said the libral. "Something they tell me about the world trade centers falling, man? Something about terrorists and beheading too? But I burried my head in the sand because I'm a libral and choose not to fight, just to hide my head and ignore it..."

Sorry for the sarcasum, but geeze...if we didn't go to war over that then what would happen next? Come on...think about it a little bit. If we did nothing when attacked like Bill Clinton did with the USS Cole they would just keep on attacking us.

USA budget mostly goes to military, more money goes to USA military then education, NASA , and any other thing you can think of. I think about 400 billion a year. When all this money has been spent and is just sitting there with thousands of trigger happy army, navy, air, marines ready to use them. the government finds a scapegoat that they will surely win because of the huge mismatch and frames them into being the 'bad guys'. The rest of the world passively watches on while US does their dirty work.
USA motto should be " You better love us or we will kill you and all your countrymen"

If there's a war going on, people tend to notice less how screwed up the country is on other issues, such as the economy and healthcare.

we didn't go to war with either of those coutries, we are occupying those areas and fighting insugents/terrorists. Basically our reasoning now is to stop terrorism. The only way to do this is to kill them. They don't understand diplomacy. Iraqis are infinitelyt grateful to the American soldiers on the streets, but that is not what CNN would have you believe.

Ok people let's say it is about oil and only oil, do you object? yes? then stop driving your car and heating your home. k? thanks
