I would think that the mind is a temple moreso than the body. The body is just a vessel for the mind.
Smoking marijuana has little, and I mean VERY little detrimental effects to your body. Unless you have athsma, you are fine. And even if you do, it's still okay, but you have to moderate.
Marijuana is a great way to relax and exit the stress of day to day life as long as it doesn't get completely out of hand. You don't want it breaking your bank, and you definately don't want to burn out. You can't go everywhere high. Places like Wal-Mart are okay, and it;s fine to drive while under it's influence. It isn't reccomended, however, to go to school or work while high. Duh.
I think some of the groups that are against it should focus their efforts on something way more damaging: Alcohol. Just as it is printed on hundreds of bumper stickers throughout the United States, "God made weed, man made alcohol: Who do you trust?"

You sound like a very sound person. The Bible does say your body is a temple and should be treated as such. Any kind of smoke in your lungs can't be healthy. I do believe the Lord gives each of us different convictions at different times in our lives. Maybe now is not your time to focus on your smoking but maybe he will put that on your heart later. Good luck!

I don't think you are wrong in your way of thinking. People should LIVE and live to the fullest... so long as we aren't hurting other people.
Ya know, it's hard to answer some of these questions when you read what others have answered. Like Josh here who thinks secular people think there are no consequences. Please wake up. Secular people do not state there are no consequences if you harm another... ie: murder. They simply do not believe in consequences from Your God. Be a bit more specific instead of making it out like Secular people just run around doing whatever they want thinking they'll never get punished for it.

If this is the life that works for you then you're as right as you can be. No one can tell you a right or wrong on how to live your life. They can only tell you what they believe and what they were taught. I don't know much about the bible, I'm not religious. Is weed or something similar mentioned? I've heard somewhere something about keeping your body free from impurities, but I could be mistaken. Even if it is in there, everyone has a sin, no one can compare to Jesus. My understanding is that you're supposed to ask forgiveness for your sins. You're not supposed to be perfect, you're supposed to pray and ask for guidance and in the meantime live your life to the best of your ability.

My first question for you would be: Have you ever accepted Jesus as the Lord and Saviour of your life? If not, please consider doing so immediately.
Next, I'd recommend that you discuss your weed smoking with God. Tell Him that if He feels it's wrong, you'd like to ask Him to take the desire away from you. (this, in a round-about way, would be repentance)
Now, after you're saved and have repented, find yourself a good church home. Don't worry so much about the "rules." God will lead you to one that you can live with. It's not about the rules that humans put forth though. It's about God, His desire, and your desire to do His will.

You are neither! You are what the society dictates you are. But the real you is the questioning self that has instructed you to ponder the roots of your very nature. You are right not when you go by what any perticular faith commands you to do but when you go by your consience..If you think whatever you are doing is right , continue it but if even a small inch of mind recommends against it, try to follow it stage by stage.
All said and done, this question is not one that you would ask someone else. It is what you answer yourself. So, sit in a corner for few minutes and try to get to aquaint yourself. Meditation will show the right path. Vijaya praptirastu(May u suceed)

More right than wrong, for it's following rules(laws, ordinances, commandments) that is not only wrong, but dead wrong, since law imputes sin, which imputes death, which is followed by hell.
As for believing in God, that's no big deal, for even devils believe there is one God, theirs: law. The objective isn't believing, but to know the truth shall make you free: John 8:32, free of believing lies of false Christs, false apostles, false prophets, false teachers and preachers, of a false God: Law. For it is "the God of all grace" (no law at all) that makes you perfect: 1Peter 5:10. And be ye perfect is the major be-attitude: Mt 5:48, which is notably also merciful: Lk 6:36, which Law is not: Heb 10, but Grace is.
As for going to church, well, sadly that's where most people get deceived, bewitched, and drawn back to Law; primarily via the second law of Mt 22:36-40 "law law", which is notably "like the first"; And when that info is applied to the Rom 8:2 "law law" the first is notably "sin and death". For law imputes sin: Rom 5:13, and it's the strength of sin's death sting: 1Cor 15:56, thereby it's the ministration of death: 2Cor 3:7, which is to be "done away" as the old "put off" to "put away" prior to putting on the new, for mixing of old(law) and new(grace) results in bursting, spilling, perishing, as noted in Lk 5:37. Not to mention such is as mixing lie and truth, curse and bless, sacrifice and mercy, division and peace, death and life... which only mix to make an oxyMORON, or a proselyte called "more the child of hell(law)" than former hypocrites, fools, vipers, and blind guides who sat in Moses' seat: Law.

As for smoking, many churchy folk would say it's a sin, but they aren't aware that to have any sin you'd have to invoke law, and when you do it makes sinners all, not some only. Law is the root source and strength of sin, not smoking. Smoking has been associated with peace for a long time among many cultures.
Bottom line, or "the end" we're to endure unto is:
The "grace" of our Lord Jesus Christ with you all. Amen.

Taking advantage of life is a great idea, but not at the risk of your health. Christians believe that doing drugs is damaging your body, which is a temple of their lord. Pagans follow" an it harm none, do as thou wilt". Harm none would include yourself, making drugs wrong. And to top it off, back to where I started, doing drugs, even weed, will eventually do unreversible damage to your brain. And if you think you are harming none, tell your family that you smoke weed. Try to get a decent girlfriend that is o.k. with it. You have a long life ahead of you, stop smoking weed, and "TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT!

reading and believing in God doesn't cut it..you have to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and repent from your sins..REPENT FROM YOUR SINS!! It doesnt matter if you feel good with your wrong decisions, do what would please God, not yourself.
By the way, you only get one life ON EARTH, but you'll have evelasting life where you choose to be, yes it's up to God to send you to Heaven or Hell but it's also your choice. So if you want to "live the life" here on Earth doing whatever you please for a possible 120 years and possibly go to hell for ETERNITY after that, then go for it. You will also have a great time pleasing God, because He will also reward you on earth with great things and continue to when you die.
dedicating yourself to God is even MORE RELAXING!

well, you think only about yourself, "you" don't hurt others.. "you" live the way you want to. But since you read the bible well and say your study it.. take a more careful look... Its all about loving others and denying self love, Loving God and not loving your own flesh.. if you love God, you will find that your flesh likes to do the things God dislikes and so you will find yourself a wretched man as Paul says, so if you still feel that indulging yourself in worldly pleasures is not wrong, then you are not really obeying the commands of Jesus.
"Don't love the world, neither the things that are in the world. If anyone loves the world, the Father's love isn't in him." 1 John 2:15.
Are we complacent with the sinful conditions around us? Or are we grieving with God over it? "Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold." Matthew 24:12.
And if you feel that disobeying God's commands is not wrong.. look again at what Jesus said..
John 14:23, 24
Jesus replied, "Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them. Anyone who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
“I have rejoiced in the way of your testimonies, as much as in all riches. I will meditate on your precepts, and consider your ways. I will delight myself in your statutes.I will not forget your word.” Psalm 119:14-16.
