Go on a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. Eat fish, eggs, chicken, occasional lean beef or pork, low fat cottage cheese. Stay away from regular cheese, no bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, peas, beans (except green beans). No fruit and no fruit juice (it's sugar water, my dr says). Cut down on carrots and tomatoes (included ketchup). Use mustard instead of mayonnaise in recipes. Eat lots of salads, green vegetables. Salads only have one tablespoon of dressing for the whole salad. No ice cream, or other desserts. 8 glasses of water a day. No caffeine

Let me tell you what I've done. I am fairly young, will not give the age, but I also used to be very overweight. This diet has helped me lose over 50 lbs. and about 5 inches off my stomach. This is also a fairly intense workout though, make sure you can handle it before you try it, never sacrifice your life for looks. Anyways, start out with running 1 mile on the treadmill. Then, you will do 3-4 different exercises for the muscle of the day.Day 1 will be abs, day 2 can be legs, alternate days, the days span will be enough time to replenish and rejuvenate your muscles. After the weights, then you will run another mile. If you are enrolled in a gym, now you will go sit in a sauna for 20 minutes. This helps rid your body of all the crap it has. One of the most important things to keep in mind is diet. You MUST drink a lot of water, i suggest 3 quarts of water per day or more. No more excess sugars. This means no more pop, white bread, candy, all that crap has to be cut out. ALso, up the protein intake. The best way i found to do this is to eat a lot of chicken and salad. The salad fills you up without very many calories at all, assuming there is no dressing. Try to eat about every 2-3 hours in very small amounts, it gives your body the steady flow of nutrients it needs. Good Luck

I'm sure the same solution doesn't work for everyone, but I went on the Zone diet and lost 5 pounds the first week and 5 pounds the second week without exercising at all. It leveled out after that. You didn't mention your age, but I assume the younger you are, the easier it is to lose. I'm 25. My mom went on the same diet and only lost a total of five pounds the first two weeks. Also, it sounds like you are already eating healthier than I was before I started it, which probably means you'll have a less drastic weight loss. There's a book out about it, but the author's name escapes me. In a nutshell, you need to eat the correct balance of proteins, carbs and fat: 7 grams of protein to 9 grams of carbs to 1.5 grams of fat. Those measurements are equal to one "block" and I would guess the average female requires 7-10 blocks a day, depending on body fat and level of activity - meaning if you were eating 9 blocks a day, that would be 63 grams of protein, 81 grams of carbs, and 13.5 grams of fat evenly distributed throughout the day. There's a formula to determine your required number of blocks, but I don't know exactly what it is. To give you a reference point, when I started, I was 140 pounds, 5'4" tall, and not very active, and I was allowed 7 blocks per day. Also, use common sense - poultry is a leaner source of protein than beef, fruits and vegetables are a better source of carbs than bread and pasta, etc. And you're not supposed to go more than 5 hours without a meal to keep your metabolism working the best. Good luck!

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.
The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.
Get started today!

This is definately not the solution for everyone... It depends on your current level of physical fitness and past experiences with working out. That said, I used to swim on a year round swim team for many years, I dont do that anymore, but whenever I start feeling unhealthy or overweight, I find the time to jump back on my swim workout. Sometimes, I will join the local swim team, other times I will just ask a local swim coach to write me up some workouts. Usually, I will try to swim for 2 - 2.5 hours per day. I know that most people cannot do this, but if you do, you will more than likely drop a lot of weight. Just so that you dont think that it is just me, a friend of mine that was pretty overweight actually made a bet with me that it wouldnt work for everyone, and started a swimming regiment at 2 hours every other day, he was looking to drop a lot of weight, and has lost a lot of weight in just 3 weeks. It was very difficult, and took me going to the pool with him to help with his stroke technique, but so far I have seen amazing results.

Dear Libby, it depends on how much weight you want to loose.
My weight loosing success came after one year slowly doing a turn towards health and loosing 40 pounds.
However, in a crash diet it is possible to loose about 6 pounds without risking your health.
Eat often, like 3 main meals a day and 3 snacks between meals to speed up your metabolism. Eat around 1000 calories/day
Good luck!
