Shampoo at least twice a week with a good anti-dandruff shampoo. Nizoral is my best tried option. The key thing is that after you lather, leave it on your hair for about 5 minutes then rinse.
Also, adding vinegar to the last rinse water can help eliminate dandruff, yet it may tend to dry your hair.

Use shampoo containing pine tar. It smells awful, but it tingles on the scalp and helps with the itch. My dermatologist recommends Selsun Blue.
