Credit is a double edge sword. If your not careful you can buy things you can't afford and then owe everybody. Then the bill collectors are calling and you can't even pay the minimum payment.

If you had bad credit you would never had been able to borrow the money in the first place.

Good credit is great to have and yes it saves you money, but i can also get you into trouble.

If you need to buy a house, how many people have the cash available for it. Good credit, in such a case, will help you to get cheaper loans. What you say is good in cases of buying consumer items on your credit card and carrying a balance. Here, if you don't have the cash for it, I agree that you can't afford it. A credit card should be used only so that you don't have to carry cash or a check book around.

Usually if you don't have cash you don't have good credit either... but the purpose of the credit is to help you purchase stuff and pay less on the interest. Credit doesn't buy property for you, its a means to be able to buy it.

Good credit can help you buy a house or a car. Who has the cash on hand to buy a house? It might be easy to say "Save for it," but why waste the money on rent when you could be making housepayments and building equity?
