Why are many religious people so concerned about making other people subject to their beliefs, values, laws? Why do they care if people buy alcohol on Sunday, or if two gays get married, or if multipe religions are taught in school? Can't they live their own lives the way they want to and let other people do what they want to do?! Whats their motivation of trying to force others to live like them?

Note--I mean that "many" religious people do this...not "all" religious people.

That's a really good question. I am a Christian. But, I grieve at how obnoxious and insecure my friends can be sometimes.
I believe that everyone has the right to believe what they want and do what they want as long as it doesn't hurt others. I've chosen a faith that I believe in. But that doesn't mean that everyone else will follow me. How boring would that be?
All I can say is that you ask a really good question and I'm not one of those Christians that is out meddling in everyone elses business. I have enough problems of my own to deal with.
Jesus was a lover of people. I have a much better time when I follow his M.O. than going around trying to change everybody. You really don't see Jesus trying to change everybody. Jesus just loved and helped everybody. The change, if there is any, comes almost natural (or super-natural if you prefer to believe that) after that.
I apologize for the many idiots in my faith and many of the stupid and sometimes hurtful things they say and do. All I know is that this encounter with Jesus that I've had has made me a very happy person and filled me with love for everyone. And, I'm happiest when I'm sharing and showing that love. Peace, my friend.

Actually, with the exception of the gay marriage issue, it is the secularists and atheists that are trying to limit the live of religious people, not the other way around. This is just parrotting the lies of the liberal left who are seeking a world without morality, obligation or responsiblity.

Christians aren't trying to force anyone to live like them they are trying to lead people to Jesus Christ. They care how people live their lives because they have a burden for their souls and do not want to see them die and go to Hell. Hell is a horrible place and as a christian I wouldn't want to see anyone go there. Besides, as far as us caring why we dont want to see two gays get married or people buying alcohol on Sundays is because it is corrupting our country even more.

They believe that it is their mission in life to change everyone else to their religious views. Most of them are terrible hypocrites and spew hate for other beliefs. I wish they would take on all of the porn posters the other annoying group here. They can fight with each other and leave the rest of us alone.

enable them carry this warfare. My ancestors slaughtered them like canine in the previous at the same time as they tried to pressure their faith upon them. i in my opinion choose that the Abrahamic faiths and the atheists would all close up and study appreciate. For all their claims to be distinct they're all performing alike. also i'd opt to discuss that many pagan paths do not say they're non violent. And Heathen paths overtly admit that they are going to debris you up in case you screw with them. i have under no circumstances used my faith to harm others i exploit my fists and on condition that they step up first.

We were founded by Puritans. Some folks have the mistaken idea they are saving a soul and get on a power trip if you ask me. Currently a conservative government that is very puritanical is in office.

not all religious people are like that...you're lumping in all of us because of the actions of a few...the majority of us spiritual people are NOT like that at all...I myself don't do any of that...I only discuss my beliefs if someone asks me..you've had a bad experience or two, so you're being closed minded to those of us who are NOT that way.

They want to shove THEIR religion down the throats of others. They should just believe and shut up. If they want to go meet Jesus TODAY, I will show them some train tracks to sit on.

Because they have nothing better to do than bother us. I beleive that God loves me for me...and so what if I drink, smoke, have sex...there are far more things out there for him to worry about...and the only person that should be worried about what I do...is me. Not other religions!

I think they doubt their own beliefs and are looking for some confirmation by fooling someone else into believing too.
