http://www.novascotia.worldweb.com/ Located on the Atlantic Coast of Canada, Nova Scotia is a remarkably scenic province that is known for its friendly hospitality and abounding maritime culture. Nova Scotia is Latin for New Scotland, and the region's Celtic heritage makes it an appealing destination for visitors from around the world. The capital of Nova Scotia, Halifax, is a beautiful port city that boasts a myriad of attractions, including the historic Citadel and Pier 21—Canada's tribute to its vibrant immigrant heritage. Other Nova Scotian must-see destinations include Cape Breton Highlands National Park—which was a prominent port of entry for brave adventurers arriving from Europe; the peaceful fishing community of Lunenburg; Peggy's Cove—which boasts one of the most famous lighthouses in Atlantic Canada; and the Fortress of Louisbourg—a National Historic Site that pays homage to an early French settlement over 250 years ago.

Probably the first thing to do is to figure out what interests you share! Are you an outdoors person... love history.... enjoy ethnic cuisine? Make a list of those things you enjoy and then start searching! There is truly something for everyone in the greater Halifax area.
You also want to consider your budget... obviously eating out every night might not be a possibility if you don't have much funds. And the exchange rate between the US dollar and Canadian dollar (I'm going to assume that you're from the US...) is not as favorable as it has been in the past, so things aren't as much of a "bargain" as they have been in other years.
Halifax itself is a city with great history.... depending upon how much you want to travel, you could also check out the Annapolis Valley area (home to Grand Pre and the Acadians), take the Cabot Trail, even venture off to Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland.

Oh there is so much for you to see and do. In Halifax be sure to visit the Citadel (if only to get a bird's eye view). Visit the Maritime museum (I think they still have items from the Titanic), The Public Gardens are quite lovely (they are just below the Citadel), the Historic Properties and Privateer's Wharf, sail on the Bluenose(designed by my great uncle's grandfather, no relation to me), drive down the coast to Peggy's Cove, eat seafood fresher than you've ever had, drive further down the south shore to Lunenberg (post card perfect shoreline), meet the people wherever you go and you'll never be a loss for fun. Queensland beach is clean clean clean and Lawrencetown is great for surfing (though better in the winter)...oh the things you'll see and do...have a great time....find a live Celtic band.

One of the cemetaries in Halifax has a bunch of people from the Titanic in it.
Peggy's Cove is neat, bring a windbreaker though, it is always windy down there.
The public gardens in Halifax are nice and so is the waterfront.
If you have the time and are a fan, you should try to get to Prince Edward Island and see some of the Anne of Green Gables stuff -- the play is *fantastic*.
