Would depend on the lyric content, and how you felt afterwards.
Meaning, some people get "pumped up" or kinda violent when or after listening to certain types of music.
If you listen to music like, say, Megadeth, who have christian lyrics in their newer stuff, and you dont eant to go jump ion a mosh pit, I dont see anything wrong there !

Sure, but you need to be aware of the message that is being sent in the music. Is the song about something that is inappropriate or condemned by god like drugs, murder, rape, etc?
If it is, would it be appropriate for a god-fearing person to listen to? Probably not. Lyrics to have an impact on a person and their thought patterns. If someone listens to a song saying drugs are good over and over... odds are, they are going to think... "you know what, drugs are good."
You cannot deny that music impacts your thoughts and feelings. When you listen to a fast song, you get a rush and you drive a little faster or dance around, when it's a slow song or sad song, you calm down or even begin to feel sad.
Do not discount the impact of music on your thinking. Therefore choosing music should be as complicated as choosing friends.

Of course it is ok. If the lyrics bash God, Jesus, religion, etc. and you really like what they are SAYING then that is a little different, but if you are just listening to music that is considered "heavy metal" it's just another genre and there is nothing wrong with that. At the end of the day, if you know you're good with God, I'm sure he agrees.

Well I guess it depends on who your God is. Most of the time the lyrics to music contain words that exploit others (women, different races, religion, etc) and sometimes its just terrible. Most people who worship the true God of heaven begin to believe that these lyrics are offensive and wrong. I cant say that listening to that music is wrong but I can say that when I listen to music other than spiritual music I find myself repulsed to what I am hearing.

It is impossible to keep listing to heavy metal and stay a love of God. You may not suddenly cease being a love of God but it is like the old saying of cooking the frog. After a while in the nice warm water, it ends up cooking the frog, TO DEATH.

Sure. I love God and listen to rock, eat red meat, smoke tobacco, drink beer, read the newspaper, speak freely, drive a car, vote and have sex as often as I can.

i wondered that myself when i listned to hip hop and r&b. i also listen to gospel though. over the years my taste in music has evolved. only music with a message is what i listen to.
listening to music does not change your love for God. that is internal and from the heart. when the type of music you listen to does effect you as person though something inside of you will let you know its time to change

Being open to all types of music and experiences is never a bad thing. Music does not make one godly or not.
