Contact the nearest British embassy. The consulate will be able to help you get started. The process may be long, but if you have proof of your mother's British citizenship, and if you have family still living in Britain, it may (or may not) speed up the process.

You can go on line and see if the British embassy lists any documentation you will need. - Good Luck!

From what I understand about UK citizenship, it is passed down at least one generation. (I have friends who are UK citizens by this manner). Contact the British Consulate in your area and explain the situation. ENSURE that you have all your documents ready. You will need, at a minimum, your mom and dad's passports (copies), you birth certificate, ID, and anything that shows your parents moved to SA.

Good luck

Contact the embassy for the UK in Washington DC. They can help out with all the paper work that needs to be done. If that doesn't help then contact your state representative in your area.

Hi Tracy,

From what you have said you may be eligible for British Citizen (and therefore a passport). Your children should also be eligible for a visa.

To advise you exactly we will need more information - you can email me on Jessica.Stooke@Visalogic.net. I'm a registered advisor based in London.
