They trash what they don't understand. Some just think they are being funny. Like any bully, they're just emotionally immature.

Well, I think that it is probably because religion and spirituality are some of the easiest topics to get people up in arms about. It is like anytime you talk about such things, you are stepping on people's perverbial toes. Frankly, I laugh at those that cannot discuss spiritual matters calmly and intelligently. Usually the ones that get the most angry are the ones that really know the least about the topic. Those that are educated in the subject know that heated and explosive discussions never accomplish the task they set out to accomplish, therefore it is senseless to engage in a discussion in that manner.
Trashing others or their beliefs, attacking other people in any way, or setting out to offend people in general is never a good starting point for any topic, but especially this one. Calm discussion is the absolute only way that anyone can discuss a topis of this highly sensetive nature. It may make oyu feel as though you have accomplished something by insulting someone to the point that they give up talking to you, but you are really just an ignorant failure if you do. Not stupid, just ignorant to the truth that you have accomplished nothing by crushing their spirit. It is the nature of the thing. It must be approached with a calm and careful step and a kind and patient word or nothing at all will be accomplished.

You never heard of spiritual warfare?Seriously, this is probably the most opinionated section in Yahoo answers, and folks jump in with both feet, consistently. What troubles me is the tendency to ask opinionated questions that reveal a bias,as if the questioner is making a statement with a question mark after it.
I think anger is one way to mask uncertainty,or to express fear. Many people get angry because they don't feel they have the skills needed to express themselves well. This,in turn, makes them feel better about themselves. It's like the barking dog behind a fence. He can't get out,he probably wouldn't bite if he did,but barking makes him feel better about the whole thing.

I've noticed that too. Well, that's why I use the Report Abuse option very often. Cool, not just that they lost 5 points with no chance of returning them; they also lose 2 more points. This Yahoo! Answers thing isn't so bad, right...?

Low self esteem people value themselves at the expense or at least by the judgment of others (eye of God)
High self esteem people value themselves by their own ruler. Not at the expense of others not having to do at all with anyone else.
High self esteem is produced by creating real values in a real world. Not by complaining, whining, sniveling, bashing, or torturing.

Religion is the opiate of the masses so it's just too much fun to disrespect the junkies in this section.

Quantrill, I don't listen to their bullying. :-) I don't let them bully me. Do a search on YA for this question.
Insecurity. Fear. Rabid desire for validation. Faith not secure enough. Low self-esteem. Need to have the "Us VS. Them" mentality.

These bullies have just been hurt in sometime of their life. They have gone against God instead of going towards him.

I think they give themselves reinforcement that their beliefs are better than yours however selfless people know that no body's beliefs are better, just different.

They are slowly weening themselves off the religious upbringing in which they were raised, but now reject.
