So Christians' proof that the Bible mentions dinosaurs is that Job is supposed to have been able to see one? So, I guess Christians believe that dinosaurs and man were hanging out together. Guess they must be really excited about the upcoming "Land of the Lost" remake. I thought it was going to be a typical summer blockbuster-type movie. I didn't realize it was a historical documentary....

The Holy Bible is subjected to interpretation everyday. Some say yes and some say no. I say the Bible does not need to mention anything other than what it does. The first dinosaur was recognized in the 19th Century according to wikipedia. What does that mean. The word dinosaur was derived after the Bible was written. If the word was available for use when the Bible was written, would it be in there? That question, I am glad to say, I cannot answer. I do know someone that can. You can ask him one day. God bless.

Does the Bible mention dinosaurs? Yes. First, it discusses them in the same books, chapters, and verses that speak of bacteria, kangaroos, and anteaters. Where is that?! In Exodus 20:11, the Bible states: "For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day." In Genesis 1:20-27, we learn that God made all living creatures on days five and six of the creation week. While these verses do not mention dinosaurs (or bacteria, kangaroos, and anteaters) by name, it is clear that God made every type of creature during the six days of creation. Genesis 2:1 informs us that at the end of day six, God was finished with His creation. If God created everything in six days, and did not create anything else after those six days, then dinosaurs must have been a part of that six-day creation.

Second, while God was having a discussion with Job, He asked Job if he had seen the "behemoth" [be-HAY-mohth]? God described the animal by saying: "He eats grass like an ox. See now, his strength is in his hips, and his power is in his stomach muscles. He moves his tail like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are tightly knit. His bones are like beams of bronze, his ribs like bars of iron. He is the first [chief] of the ways of God" (Job 40:15-19). Certainly, no other creature (living or extinct) fits this description better than a dinosaur. Many dinosaurs had huge tails "like a cedar" tree. Their bones were like "beams of bronze." Their ribs were like "bars of iron." And they easily could be called the "chief of the ways of God" (the diplodocids and brachiosaurids were the largest land-living animals ever to roam the Earth!).

Why, then, doesn’t the Bible simply call the behemoth a "dinosaur"? The word "dinosaur" did not enter the English language until 1842. The King James Version of the Bible was published in 1611 (that’s 231 years before the word "dinosaur" even came into existence). But is the description of a dinosaur provided within the book of Job? Yes, it is.

All of this means, of course, that men and dinosaurs lived together on the Earth at the same time. How exciting that must have been! And how powerful God must be in order to create such magnificent animals. Let us remember to give Him honor and praise for all that He has done.

According to the Genesis account, animals were created during the fifth and sixth creative periods or "days"If the Hebrew expression translated "great sea monsters" includes dinosaurs, which often inhabited swampy, watery areas, this would mean that dinosaurs were created on the fifth "day"(Gen.1:21).We do not know whether they continued to exist until man was created(toward the close of the sixth "day").At the very latest it seems likely that they must have disappeared off the earth at the time of the flood of Noah's day.
The vast array of dinosaurs with their huge appetites would have been appropriate considering the abundant vegetation that evidently existed in their time-Gen.1:20-24
When the dinosaurs had fulfilled their purpose,God ended their life. But the Bible is silent on how he did that or when.We can be sure that dinosaurs were created by Jehovah for a purpose, even if we do not fully understand that purpose at this time.

Yes, it talks about the behemoth with the tail like a great cedar. If you know what those cedars were like, you'd then understand how that is a dinosaur.

"Look at the behemoth, which I made along with you and which feed on grass like an ox. What strength he has in his loins, what power in the muscles of his belly! His tail sways like a cedar; the sinews of his thighs are close-knit. His bones are tubes of bronze, his limbs like rods of iron. He ranks first among the works of God..."
-Job 40:15-19 (NIV)
