It's popular to think that we should not depend on our government for help when there is a disaster. In fact, the federal government has probably the best resources for dealing with just such an event. The problem is in getting the bureaucratic mindset in gear for doing more than vegetating.

HELL NO!!! I saw on TV last night that they just gave money away after Katrina, I guess they sent a check to the cemetary for over 2g's because thats the address some ****** gave them. NBC said they have no fraud protection what so ever!!! They said some people entered a claim 13 times and that they sent over 12 million to people in jail! Please FEMA ready for another hurricane season? They all need to be fired!

If you ask the people in hurricane ravaged areas, FEMA isn't prepared even for a simple runny nose.

Why should FEMA be prepared? It is up to the PEOPLE to prepare themselves for hurricanes. Until we stop relying on the government for everything, we won't be able to provide anything for ourselves.

No probably not. I dont even think they have finished building the homes promised to the now homless survivors of last seasons hurricane season.
But I sure hope they can pull there act together and give us some hope that we may be on the right track to protecting the American citizens.

Quit depending on the gov't to tell you what to do and to make sure you are ok; Get flood insurance from an agency in the midwest. When a hurricane is comin get out of town. Who cares how small it is you never know the damage it will do. Why depend on the gov't for anything
God knows they dont go anything to help us in any way they just want our money.

They "could" be......but you'd have to ask them....ever thought of sending them a letter, or calling David Paulison....try the hotline number: 800-621-FEMA.

What will help is when people stop depending on the government for everything, evacuate when told to, and look to their local leaders for assistance...
