because you are brainwashed. advertising is mind manipulation, coupled with the proven hypnotic effects of television, so you can't help to believe whatever they want you to believe. The only way to stop this is to get rid of the television, start thinking again and start asking intelligent questions to intelligent people. In other words we're scr***d because nobody in this country is willing to go that far for freedom.

Because the American public for the most part has no idea whats really going on in the world and are easily swayed as to how to vote. Ignorance is bliss. They usually dont vote for anyone. Americans will usually vote for a canidate based on there dislike for the other. Thats why politicians dump millions of dollars every year into mud slinging campaigns. Getting very old if you ask me. Im an American and i vote based on my information from several news sources. I wont rely on simply one since each have there own agenda. 6 years ago i voted for John Mcain as president not bush though I do support his efforts.

Front of mind advertising. If you get enough good adverstising people are going to keep it in mind better. Just like Pepsi and Coke people buy their products no problem but they continue to make new catch phrases and stuff so that people will buy their product more than the other. Well the same with elections the more you get your name out there the more you will remember that person the more likely you are going to choose that person because you remember them.

I don't necessarily vote for the candidate with the most advertising. Sometimes I vote for the best person for the job....short of that, I vote for the lesser of the evils. Or the best of the worst, however you want to put it.

Remember, not all of us voted for Bush. In fact, Gore won the election by the popular vote in 2000, but Jeb stole it for his brother. Then he did it again in '04, only they were smarter that time- throwing out absentee ballots of people they knew would vote for Kerry.
I wonder if their Daddy is proud of how his son won the White House, or if he's just so glad he's there he doesn't care how he got there.

According to me the reason for this is the fact that people tend to have more information concerning these candidates.I guess they also get to hear more, most of which is what they want to get from the candidate...should they be elected.
They know nothing of the rest and hence go for what they know about .

I don't. If I don't have a favorite candidate, I usually vote for the female candidate of my party that I have never heard of.
