I take a martial arts class and our dojo does not have airconditioning. It can get very hot in there. I have had some people tell me that because we are sweating more that we are burning more calories. I don't think this is true because the intensity of the class did not change. I just thought that we were sweating more beacuse we were hotter than usual. What are your thoughts on this?

This is not true or the sauna would contain a lot more people trying to lose weight.

The sweating MAY be an indication of a harder cardio workout but the amount of sweat cannot be the indication of how hard the workout was.

Sweating is an effect and not a cause.

You are not losing calories, but fluid. You will lose calories during the class because you are exerting yourself. You should carry some water with you to replace the fluid you are losing through sweat.

Sweating - it truly is what the body does to relax itself down understanding - Your muscular tissues are expelling all sorts of power to make your run, raise weights, etc. You body will first burn waiting available energy (power) kept in the blood in the muscular tissues, once it truly is lengthy gone it turns to energy circulating in the bloodstream (body needs to rework those)....once those are lengthy gone it burns fat for power (which it has the hardest time replacing, for this reason it turns to it very last). at the same time as your muscular tissues get to transferring they generate warmth, in case you artwork your muscular tissues adequate and also you could get them to create adequate warmth then your body will sweat to relax the body down. This sweat has no longer some thing to do with burning energy, it truly is your body attempting to relax itself because your muscular tissues are turning out to be a lot warmth out of your actual exertion. Sauna - An exterior catalyst is turning out to be the nice and cozy temperature, your body sweats to relax itself, your body burns no energy except the energy it takes to sit down in that room (respiratory, helping a sitting position) All weight lost this way will be water weight and risky.

this is true. when we sweat we are getting good a cardio workout, which get our mitochondria kicking in that increases the metabolism>thus burns more calories. it also will increase muscular mass which naturally will increase the tendency to metabolize faster and burn again even more calories.

generally yes. your body burns calories to produce energy. when your body gets overheated you sweat and the sweat cools you off. your body uses more energy to produe the sweat, and therefor burns more calories.
