I believe that this is apparent, because girls are more interested & apply themselves more in the classroom than guys... this is only speaking of the majority of females in the classroom. Study's have proven this to be true, although in the college world it seems that there are more men who recieve degrees in mathematics, engineering, computer sciences... women still out perform men in the overall percentage of degrees handed out.
In an article released at the Annual American Psychological Association Convention, after testing many girls and boys, researchers found that "[g]irls outperformed boys" and are "better than boys in successive processing across all the age groups."

Ever since females have been offered "equal education" that has been the case at the junior high/high school level. Probably because it is fact the females mature quicker than males. From the ages of 12/16 males struggle with puberty and attention to detail and patience seems to lack, females do not experience the same dilemma. On an average, however by college level, males top the scale as far as grade performance.

Dont know where you got your information from but it's false. It has been proven that mens brains are larger than womens and men are also a lot smarter and focus/tend to more important and practical things.

Because boys aren't as serious about their studies as girls, perhaps...
I find it interesting that this phenomenon isn't only in India, but prevails somewhere else too!
