People make the mistake of confusing the two, science shouldn't have to compete with religion & vice versa.
It's like comparing apples with oranges.
Keep them separate.

What a lot of hog wash. How on earth can science prove homosexuality is anything other than a perverted desire.
As far as carrying monkey genes - are you kidding?
If you investigated the Bible, you would learn that science agrees with the Bible. The Bible does not claim to be a scientific textbook.Nevertheless, when the Bible does touch on scienitific matters, what it says is completely accurate.
Consider for example, what the bible says about our Earth,In the book of Job we read"[God]is stretching out the north over the empty place, hanging the earth upon nothing"(Job26:7).Compare this with Isaiah's statement when he says "There is one who is dwelling above the circle of the earth."(Isa.40:22)
Consider too, the earth's amazing water cycle. This remarkable process, which makes life on dry land possible, was well described about 3000 years ago in simple, straightforward terms in the Bible"All streams run into the sea,yet the sea never overflows, back to the place from which the streams ran they return to run again"-Eccl.1:7The New English Bible.
These are only some of the many, many accounts where science and the Bible agree.
Personally I choose to believe the source of the Bible as truth.Considering the author is also our Creator and life giver and who better to know the origin and function of the universe and everything in it.
Scientists on the other hand, are only inperfect human beings like ourselves, who more often then not guess and/or assume to get their answers.

Im quite happy that you have put forward this question. There is a lot of apathy in the muslim community all over the world.
Honestly speaking my friend science also proves that homosexuality as an abnormal and unhealthy activity. It is one of the major reasons of AIDS. Regarding chimps and humans , the only person who proposed this theory was Charles Darwin which remains a mere theory even to this day. There is no satifactory scientific proof that can justify that mankind was originated from apes.
The culture in muslim socieites is evolving now with the advent of cable stations, internet and globalisation and debates are being encouraged on a day to day basis.
i frankly feel that mulim governments should be take the following tasks as their core responsibilities:
1.Research in science & religion(other faiths as well)
2.Jihad against ignorance & illetracy
3.Equal distribution of wealth in their respective societies

Science is "fact" and most often indisputable.
Religion is "truth" most often based on interpretations, historical references, and even more often, man made "rules" "laws" suggestions"
That doesn't say however that someone with a deep faith base cannot believe in Scientific facts,,, or question ones own "religion"
As opposite of that, Not all those who follow Science are faithless pagans.
Beyond that "Religion" or a faith system, especially individually, is a very personal issue, and a comfort zone for those involved.
Most Science I've learned of, especially lately, while being awesome, can be frightening at the same time.

So, to phrase your suggestion in the same terms seen from the other side would be to say that the chimp has 97% of the human gene and homosexuality is a scientific explanation of a mutant gene?

Hey everyone this guy strongly believes that he is right and wants to expose the evil. Ex-Muslims label him wise and intelligent. But really he is stupid and dumb because honestly if you strongly believe in something and want to put an end to it what will you be doing sitting on the Internet and trying to push your stupid ideologies on people? I say if he really believes and hates the so called evil, why doesn't he do something valuable with his er..talents? I'm sure he is just a wimp. And now I know what he is going to say: Muslims don't like the truth OR ask the ex-Muslims they have seen it. But i converted to Islam so I know those people have made the worst decision and I too have seen Islam and other beliefs for myself. But do I, although I believe my religion is correct, go around and try to bring down other religions, even the one i converted from? No because it doesn't effect me and If he knows that Islam is false, why is he burning?
Get a brain!Get a life bro! You ain't doing nothing but wasting your precious "Atheist Time"
If you want to put your influences on other people don't be a dork because the Internet isn't helping.
God is Wise and Powerful...a idiot like you won't change my view or other people who believe in God/Allah.

we have 99% of chimps gene but that does not mean we came from tem. the theory of evolution is great but it doesn't mean that we truly are descendants of chimps...because if its was true... then until now monkeys continue to evolve to become humans.
religion and science will conflict depending on our own perspective.

i disagree with you on your very last comment. Not all Christians, Jews, etc have welcomed sorme sort of modern scientifc ideas and just as not all muslims have. but remember historically during the dark ages that muslims were the pioneers of science and rivaled the ancient greeks in their wisdom.

Islam has many scientific claims in it. Even the 7 layers of our earth, and Im' talking about space not dirt. It speaks of the creation of stars and describes what it looks like, it speaks of our bodies being made from clay and mostly of water. It speaks of the earth being "egg shaped" and of mountains having roots as deep as the mountain itself. Here's the link. You'll be surprised.
