because HIV/AIDS is a virus it is very difficult for doctors to find a cure. viruses are harder to cure than infections. Virus such as influenza and the common cold have no immediate cure althought the influenza virus does have a vacine to prevent it. but once you've got it, it takes time to get rid off. modern science has found ways for HIV/AIDS patients to live longer through immuno suppresents because HIV/AIDS destroy the immune system and people are more suseptable to dying from an infection and influenza. the cure is out there somewhere and it will be discovered eventually but like all cures for diseases it takes time.
