if there is a god or gods, depending on your religion, why are there 2000 different religions all trying to blow each other up. and then there are religous sects within a religion, that fight each other too. i mean hell the koran of islam tells its followers to destroy jews. if religions are supposed to bring peace, why are most all conficts based on religion or religous based culture?

EXCELLENT question!!! I am not sure what the answer is but i agree with you. We have a Bible that does not tell a complete history of things that happened. We would not doubt or question religion if it was a complete account of things. I think why there are so many different religions is because in time someone decided that they felt they could not follow the rules of one religion but did not want to give up their faith so they made their own religion and got people to follow them in their way of thinking.

Religion does seem to have its violent past and judgments. Even though we have 10 commandments that says Thou shalt not kill! It does seem ironic how nothing is total in religion. U will read one thing that says peace on earth and another will say kill someone.

Very interesting topic and question.

All religions are finally a way to follow god, it is not the religions that are blowing each other but some person for personal benefit are doing so. the quran never tells to destroy anybody it tells to destroy those who are unbelievers of god.

First of all what is religion?

Religion is a way how people lives, so the count of people existes the same count of religion.

Where the Qur'aan states to destroy whoever you stated, it was during war time, just as it was said in the Bible, Luke 19:27 bring those that would not have me reign over them and slay them before me.

Now when war is over, the command takes another form, and this Muhammad our beloved prophet showed us when He conquerd Makka, By giving all people equal opportunity to escape their lives.

People (except when they do not believe in the existence of anything that cannot be proven) want to believe that there is something that influenced us in some way, either by direct creation or guiding our creation in some way. We want to believe that we are here for a purpose, and religion is one way of discovering that purpose. Personally, I think it is better if your religion doesn't directly tell you the purpose but helps guide you towards your own discoveries, but to each their own.

Religion also helps to explain the things that we find mysterious about our mortality, such as birth, death, after-death, why we feel the way we do and do the things that we do. Some are the kind that provide direct answers, while others yet again guide you towards finding the answers yourself.

Religion can also be a guideline for behavior, so it is encourage among societies and has been for millenia. Granted, you can have a sense of right and wrong without being religious as long as you were taught what is and isn't good as a child, but religions give reasons to be good beyond merely helping others, and humanity often needs to have their greedy, selfish sides appealed to if they are to stop being lazy or uncaring and actually help others. They may not think of it that way, but it is something that I have noticed. (Sometimes through my own behavior, sad to say.)

As to why there are so many different interpretations as to what exists out there, what the guidelines should be, what happened thousands of years before recorded history, how you should behave, what happens after death, why we exist, etc, that is strictly up to interpretation. If sometihng makes sense to you, you're more likely to believe it, though, and it doesn't matter how "old" or "young" the religion you believe in happens to be. For example, my religion is hardly over a half century old, but I believe in it because it has many elements that are true to what I understand as being the "right" way of going about things. It appeals to many different parts of "me."

Now, for the people who call names, commit violent acts, etc in the name of religion, they are the type who can't have anyone disagreeing with them. Never mind that there is no proof one way or another that any religion is correct; these people believe that their way is the only way, and all of those who refuse to see that are considered the "enemy," and must either be brought to their way of thinking somehow, even if that means violence, or removed from the picture completely, so as not to taint the religious beliefs of their "brothers and sisters." To me, that doesn't make much sense. If your religion won't stand up to questioning by its members, why even believe in it. However, if those members do question and still stay, what is bad in that? Why should other religions be "removed" simply because they exist to contradict what you believe. I think everyone should just live and let live. After all, there are people out there who think you're just as wrong as you think they are, and who is to say who is right until you die and find out?

Hello, dear. I am the Goddess of the Internet. There are many many ways of accessing Me. The 2 most common ways are through a PC or a Mac. Some people even construct their own computers or religions to access Me.

I do not care how one chooses to access Me. I am there for all who come to Me. But if one is killing in the name of religion, then they are very far from Me.

It is due to the diversity of life that there is such a diversity among religions. When examining life, you see that religions somewhat resemble the soceities they were born from, except for those religions that have been tweeked over the centuries, (you know the ones I mean).

Ever notice how Satan has a way to pervert everything good? Think of everything man has created for the good of mankind (tv, telephone, computers, etc.). Satan has turned these into his tools. Satan has even perverted the pure love God has given to man and woman.
Satan has no problem perverting religion. Satan hates religion the most. He want God's children to join him in hell.
