Gastric Bypass Surgery/gastrectomy/lapband (all types of weight loss surgery) is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your lobesity surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her obesity surgery in India throught the forerunners healthcare .SHe is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 55lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

I assume there's a reason why the doctor recommends surgery. My personal feeling is that surgery is a last resort solution. Only after exhausting every other option would I do it and only if my health was seriously affected.

I know one person who had it done and she did lose a lot of weight. There's a very strict eating regimen that you have to follow. You'll still feel hungry esp. if you like food for its taste and you can still stretch the reduced stomach and gain weight. It's not a quick fix and it will not remove the possibility of putting weight back on.

My opinion is: try all other options and give them an honest and fair shot. Start slow with some guidance (i.e. not overexert yourself in the beginning, don't starve yourself, etc) and take your time. It took a long time to put it on and it'll take a long time to take it off. Key is to get into the right frame of mind. (Assuming there's no immediate health risk).

First....gastrobypass is the easier way out when it comes to what you have to do in a way because if you put time into exercising then that would be harder than having exercise...i'm overweight too..i know! So if you have tried plenty of diets/exercise programs and none have helped you consistently lose weight then maybe the surgery would be right for you....it is something that you have to live with so make sure you never every single thing about this surgery...good luck

I work with a nurse who had one. It has done wonders for her. If this surgery is your only workable alternative to a future of SOB(shortness of breath),bad knees(extra wear and tear on your knees) go for it. Find a support group for people who have had this procedure. They could share thier experiences with you. GOOD LUCK

if your weight is affecting your health and there's no way to lose your weight naturally, i think you should do it. but there are risks, for example, some people get complications after since their stomach is reduced so much. well good luck!
