-He's into the music industry as well and I like the fact that we share that same interest and passion.
-He isn't really boyfriend material and I'm not expecting him to be, we just have this connection everytime we talked and we are very open & honest about it.

Don't flirt at all, not even a little. How would you feel if your bf/gf asked this question?

Just because you have things in common, it does not mean you're mean to be in bed with a person. You failed to mention who's the one in a relationship, maybe both of you are. Either way, if you feel that strongly attached, you're playing with fire.

It's nice you guys share common interests, and that there is "passion". Maybe that passion you feel is something you know it to be dangerous or forbidden, again, you don't explain why it's cheating.

If you know he's not boyfriend material, then why even continue flirting? One or the other is bound to get hurt in the long run. Just be "open and honest" that maybe you two are getting a bit too attached, and keep that barrier of friendship only, otherwise it might get out of hand. You write as though you don't really trust yourself anyway.

If you are really connecting...and he says he feels it too...
I promise you, he's not thinking this is a platonic friendship...he's thinking if he just keeps on...he'll win you over and you'll leave your boyfriend for him.

Cheating implies a sense of betrayal.
If you truly believe your intentions are innocent, what is your boyfriend's input...does he think it's okay?

If you cannot share this "connectivity" in front of your boyfriend...you're already cheating.

The best thing to do -
since you're having a tough time with the definition of cheating -
is ask your boyfriend where HE thinks you should draw the line.

My best guess says he already thinks you've overstepped your boundaries...and that would be your answer.

Good luck and enjoy the connectivity.

Well, first of all find out where his heart is, If he wants in your pants then it if considered cheating. If he doesn't, then just consider it a friendship. With a male. You may find you grow out of the flirting stage to either, cheating or wanting to cheat. Make your decesion. Are the feelings mutual? Or are you potential booty for the night? If you think about seeing him in the nude, then it is flirting. If you do not, friendship

That question can only be answered my one person.... your boyfriend. If your open about he, then he knows everything you do. If he doesnt care, your fine. If he has a problem with it, you probably shouldnt be doing it.

Talking isn't cheating. Just keep your hands to yourself and it should be fine.

lets stop kidding ourselves you want him because you think he is hot and a musician he probally wants to pork you because thats what he does(if he hasn't already) if your partner doesn't know about him and your" friendship" then it is cheating because you are not being faitful to your relationship or loyal to him.
