You might need to wait until he's hungry. If he gets hungry enough he'll eat something.

At three years old, the children develop the selfconciousness for the first time and because of that, they start to say "no" for the first time and act "no" for the first time. This is the only way how he can prove to himself and to the others, that he is somebody. Give him a slack. Don't force him. Let him play a lot in fresh air, and eventually he will get hungry, and he will need food. And you know, the best cook is the hunger. Let him ask first, and make him understand that you're the boss. In the same time, you must check if he don't get sweets from others ( grandmother, friends etc.). Maybe in the time you're concerned about his health, his belly is full with chocolate, given by a "friendly" neighbor, or somebody from the family. If this is not the case, you should go to a doctor, for a check, and if is needed he will give you some vitamins, to increase his appetite.

I would tell him if he doesn't eat he'll be hungry. Don't give in to anything of what he likes with children this most likely would consist of a diet of sugar. If he's hungry enough he'll eat. My daughter is the same way. My daughters pediatrician told me that it is fine. Sometimes when children grow less they eat less. Otherwise, if he's picky he'll eventually get hungry enough to eat what is on his plate. Its not abuse, your child just needs to understand that what mommy put on my plate is what I'm going to get.
My 3 yr old could live on a diet of potatoes and chicken. And when I make something else my 5 yr old will eat it and she sits there complaining and whining but eventually she will eat it. Just give it time. But if it gets to be to long I would think about getting a dietary supplement so you know your child is getting the nutrients he needs (try pediasure).
Good Luck!

Doctors say a child will not starve to death... I have kids that won't eat also ... I relaxed once the doctor told me to... Give him vitamins and make sure the food you fix for him is nutritious... health snacks and relax it's fine ... We are built to survive and that's just what he'll do... Good luck... Angel

Have you try making it fun for him. You know here "comes the choo-choo", make funny faces with the food or have him help making the food like a PB&J sandwich or ants in a long and limit the candy in take

he will not starve, but don't back down, if he won't eat tell him he won't get any treats he likes unless he eats at least half of the meal you have made, but it is really too bad that all of the foul tasting meal replacement drinks are no longer made, because that would always make anyone eat a meal made for them

my son was the same way, i spoke with his dr. about it and he informed that children will eat when they want to. no reason to try and make them. all has been fine since. just make sure its the right food of course. stay away from the junk. we have enough obesity in the u.s.

well, my nephew...one of them...is also a toddler and he does the same exact thing. i don't know what else to say except all we can do is watch him go through it..and try to ask him to eat something. hopefully it will pass. if not, go see a doctor. we've had to take my nephew in to the drs. several times. God bless you and take care!

He'll eat when he's hungry.
If you see a weight issue starting, they have pediasure for children. Vitamin drink. Give him that. Make sure he's getting water. Flavor it if you have to.
