Well, the option of saving the file as a 'JPEG' is cool, thanks to you all.

But the size is too big, 1 MB+. I see that JPG files have normally a size of a few KB.

MS Paint. Open the bmp, then go to File - Save As, and change the extension at the bottom to JPEG (.jpg).

Yes, there's free software for that. Go to www.irfanview.com and you can download it. It will convert your images from bmp to jpg.

open the file in Paint. Select Save As and where you can select the drop down menu that says what kind of file you want to save it as, select JPG. The computer will tell you that you may lose resolution or image quality, but just click okay.

MS Paint is enough for that...
Start->All Programs->Accessories->Paint
open the bmp file then save that as jpg... that's it!

Go to the file you want to convert, right click it, select "edit", this will take you to the paint program. Go to "file", then select "save as". This will open up another window. In the drop down box on the bottom, select what you would like to save the file as (JPG, etc), then hit 'save.'

Easy!

Okay man!

But I'm telling you about the best software package for Editing jobs:
I use Adobe Creative Suite 2 Premium
It contains Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, GoLive, VersionCue, Acrobat (With PDF maker), Bridge and Stock Photos.
But it is a great package but not free. :(
