First of all qualify your question. Was Ali the best BOXER ever?
No. Please there are tons of different weight classes, with more dominant and better boxers.
What about the best Heavyweight ever?
Maybe, but you people need to learn these names: Jack Johnson, Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, Hell Joe Frazier beat Ali TWICE. Also head to head in their PRIMES, Tyson would have destroyed Ali. In his prime before he went wacky and before , Tyson was a Juggernaut. Don't let recent history change how awesome he was.

No i personaly dont i think the best boxer in history is Henery Armstrong ( homisidal henery) held 3 world titles simultaneously. featherweight lightweight and welterweight on august 18, 1938. His record was 59-1-1 with 51 knockouts he scored 27 knockouts in 1937-38.
Armstrong was a marvel of the ring. He worked at a fast pace, had quick hands and unlike most fighters seemed to pick up speed as the rounds went on. He was also a strong puncher and defensively his bob and weave style kept him from receiving the full impact of his opponent’s blows. The truth of Henry Armstrong is that he had much better boxing skills than some give him credit for

Absolutely correct. Ali had incredible speed and skill. He was a showman. He always put on good fights.
He kept going a little too long, but he was and is still the Greatest to ever wear a pair of boxing gloves.

I'm going to have to agree with you. Laila Ali is the best female boxer of all time. The copalminer's daughter? Hell no. Give me a break. Mia St. Jean. Please. Laila Ali is the best ever. And it doesn't hurt that she has looks to match skills.

Ali was and still is the greatest. He was bigger than boxing. After him I would say Louis. The Rock was a very good fighter but in my opinion plenty of heavyweights could beat him easy. Like Larry Holmes said " Marciano can't hold my jockstrap" they robbed him of his title in his next fight with Spinks. A fight what would have tied Marcianos record. It was true Larry but you should have known what was going to happen to you for speaking the truth!

ALI was the best in his time,
but not the best of all time.
many of the old fighters could
have destroyed Ali in thier time.
