Most breeds like huskies and shepherds will shed 4 or 5 times a year and each shedding can last a few weeks.

It seems to me like my husky has been shedding twice a year...nonetheless, one should expect dog hair all over the place. I have to warn people not to wear black when they come over, because they will inevitably come into contact with dog hairs in one form or another, and black is understandably not a fit color for husky hair to be camouflaged. My dog sheds her undercoat in clumps, and there's a little bag we've been using as the trash can for all the fur that comes out. I believe that it would be possible for several new huskies to be created from the total amount of fur she has shed over the years.
