The only way to legally unscramble satellite channels is to have a receiver from the satellite company.

Unscrambling other channels involves a very illegal microchip. One of the companies here got huge fines because one of the techs was selling the chips at a high price to certain customers.

Most satellite services don't have a problem with that anymore because the programming is from a large mainframe computer which unscrambles the channels before they're sent. The channels you don't have access to aren't even beamed down to your satellite dish.

This is one question that has an easy answer.

Order your satellite service from Dish Network or Direct TV, if you already have one of these providers, just order the extra channels. A few extra $$ is worth keeping your a$$ out of jail.

There are ways to descramble satellite services. Some websites will sell you manuals or gadgets that more often would not work, like this one http://www.beahacker.com/6.htm and there are sites that talks about it http://www.faqs.org/faqs/Satellite-TV/FAQ/. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/2.08/satellite_pr.html. You can spend a lot of time and money trying to make something work or you can try to just sign up for a satellite service.

Easy, you get a satellite system installed, and you purchase programming from them. They will provide the right equipment to descramble the channels so you can enjoy.
