I'm looking for things we can do to help keep the environment in L.A, California, in as good a shape as possible. Any ideas on programs that plant trees and do good landscaping in urban environments?

There are 3 basic ways to help the environment
1. Campaigns and acts of protest to counter the destruction - in california look up Julia Buterfly Hill - Legacy of Luna
2. Building positive alternatives and sustainable ways of living, look out for a local permaculture group, local exchange trading schemes, farmers market, electric vehicles etc and chat to them
3. A deeper shift in values, thinking and culture to support this, find if Joanna Macy is running a group
