Yes. A caricature is acceptable. I didn't find the ones we're discussing very funny. But caricatures are a common form of political expression.

What was totally UNACCEPTABLE...was the violent protests and looting that resulted from those cartoons.

I also think that before any cartoonist is punished for simply doing what they do for a profession; the rioter, looters, and murderers should be brought to trial.

There's far too much crime, much of it resulting in needless death of innocent people, in the name of Mohammad.

What the fanatical fringe forgets is that Mohammad, the prophet, was illiterate and ignorant ...and still forgiven and taught.

You can't say it's a proper action but there's definitely nothing wrong about it too. The media has right to express their views on every matter and just because they are muslims doesn't mean they are off limits! Muslims and people have been drawing Jesus cartoon and often times it is aggrevating but you don't see Christians going madman over them. I understand if it insults them, many things are insulting in this world but 2 wrongs don't make it right. Instead of hating the Danish people and government and boycotting Danish products, the muslim people could have been thankful that the Danish government accepted them in their country when they are in flee with their own muslim contries. Now, actually, the political party against outsider in Denmark is going strong because of this incident.
What's a typical Christian thing to do when they are provoked, we shake our heads and move on. Some might argue and debate but we'll never go on riot.
Well, you see how peaceful Islam faith is.

if i wasn't muslim, i probably wouldn't know what's the big deal about it but as a human being, even non muslim, i still would have been pi*sed of that a religious group gets insulted like that.

now, as a muslim, i know what the big deal is, and yes, i was pi*sed off. how can gratuitous provocation and insult be a proper action?

Muslims do not believe that it should be published, than you should respect their believe and not publish it. We expect to get other's respect and at the same time we don't respect them.
