My poor baby Bam, a moggy, was hit by a car the other day (12/6/06) and I'm still grieving badly for him. My boyfriend offered to buy me a ragdoll kitten and they are amazingly cute, but I don't know if I'm ready. However, the cat next door Shirley, may be pregnant to Bam but I don't know if she is old enough, if she has ever been on heat, or if she would have allowed Bam to mate with her. She wasn't very friendly when he tried to play with her and she is quite small. Her belly looks large and feels firm, she comes to eat at my house since her owner doesn't care for her much I care for her a fair bit. I don't know if her belly is this way from pregnancy or eating too much food at once but she tries to lift her belly away when we try to touch it....What do you think? How can I know? Her owner says if she's prego I can have one of my grand-babies.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my gorgeous cat to a road accident nearly two years ago. It toke mea year to get another cat. She is great and love her to bits. My cat loves being at home most of the afternoon and night but mornings she is out and she does not like other cats, she is now pregnant. So if she was on heat then she would let an male cat near her. If the cat next door is pregnant your neighbour will know as her nipples change. Plus they could take her to the vets.You will know when you are ready to get another cat. But it really seems like you are hoping that the next door cat is pregnant by your Bam. And by that I have read,if she is you are wanting to get one of her kittens. I do understand why you are like this as it very hard to accept things like this. It sounds like she may be the way I've always know when my cat is going to have babies is when they get a little bit further on when you pat her near her tummy you will feel lumps (babies). Also her nipples will look sore or swollen.
I am very sorry for your loss and am a huge cat lover and have lost lots from all different things in my life.
I think it would be really nice to have one of your cats babies if possible, i would wait a little while before letting your boyfriend buy you another kitten otherwise you may end up with two.

I have a calico that is a heinous witch, and she hates everyone, but when she comes into heat boy, she loves everyone and thing. So it is a grand possibility that she is preggo, but the definite sign is milk pockets forming in the nipples. and she will bloat big time. If she has sprung into heat then it is a possibility that she is preggo, then she could also be having a false pregnancy too. I know losing a pet is difficult to deal with, my dog was hit last week because my roommate is an idiot, but I have 4 cats that fill in the hole of emptiness. You always have memories, but it would be neat to have a grand-kitty too!! good luck
