My own experience at home show that I've reduced my electricity bill by about US$10 this month (compared to last month) after removing those fridge magnets that cover almost every square inch of the front doors of the fridge. You should try that and share your actual experience too.

No, they don't effect electricity consumption one way or another. The magnets would have to be extremely powerful to change the consumption of a refrigerator. If you have any doubts, just remember--the fridge closes with a magnet that is more powerful than any magnet you could put on its door. If the manufacturers think that a magnet that strong is safe for the fridge's inner workings, you shouldn't be worried about the little bunch of plastic bananas you put on the front.

Great question! But, I don't know. However I plan to find out. I will be first in the door at my local dollar store in the morning and will buy every refrigerator magnet in the store. I need enough to totally cover the fridge. After one month I will compare electric bills and monitor my meter. Then the world shall know.

no. the outside metal part of your frige has absolutly no electrical connection to the power consuming elements inside. if it did, you would get a nasty shock every time that you tryed to open it. so stick them on there as much as you want!! they're no trouble at all!!! just all fun!!!
