Just before my lab went into labor she panted a lot also. When she went into active labor she did a lot of squatting. This lasted a few hours before the pups were born. The first puppy was born at 10:51 PM and the last of seven was born the following day at 10:12 AM. The mother did a great job with the pups from start to finish. Good luck and congratulations.

From experience with a yellow lab, I would say it is any time. With in the next few hours if not before you get this she wil be in full labor. Just remember mom cam\n do a lot on her own but some times you do need to step in to help. I found that mine had 4 litters of atleast 12 puppies. Ever time I would have to help her deliver the last couple of puppies due to weakness. I hope every thing works out if you need any help let me know and I will try to assist you.

You can expect them very soon. Dogs usually get very antsy and start moving around a lot. Your dog will feel very restless, she might get up and lay back down again, she will pant heavy and refuse food or water. If she is close to labor her rectal temp. will drop below 100 F dogs normal temp is 101.5F. Your dog may pace around and scratch at the floor. Several days before she has a puppy she may lose a clearish cloudy discharge from her vagina, this is normal. If there are any signs of dark greenish fluid coming out of her vagina before she has any puppies this could be a sign of a dead puppy. If you have any further questions on this matter I would be glad to assist you.

Like humans, she has lost her mucus plug, expect puppies within the next couple of hours, If she is not dialating, you will need to stand by to see if she will need help birthing or even to the emergancy vet if she looks stressed

It does sound as if she is in labor. If it were me, I would stay up with her and be very near to her. Like people, it can go quickly or slowly, and things can go wrong at any time. If in doubt, call your vet, or an emergency vet service immediately. They can help talk you through it.

YEP..Puppies comming soon. The panting is part of her way of coping with contractions.
