If you try to register on microsoft site, the new computer will not be able to register the Windows XP. (Subject to condition that you have registered the old one. )

Frankly, yes it is against the law to use one Windows licence on two computers. If you have two licences, you can use one CD to install it but use different licences to run

hello,
I don't quite understand you. are you saying that if you put the original windows xp DISC in windows 98 computer, will it be uninstall? well, actually it depends on what you are doing. if you decided that you want to format and install a fresh copy of windows xp onto the windows 98 computer, all will be removed. i advice you to make a backup first. hope this helps :)
