Why do we buy things we dont want, with money we dont have, to impress the people we cant stand?

In my case i only buy things i need with the money i earn. And i dont care to impress people, dont give a F*** for others opinion. Peace !!

actually i think this is an excellent question, one that i do not know the answer to. though i'm only really guilty of the third, because i only buy things that i want and can afford. but as for why i care about impressing anyone, i really dont know. i should probably stop trying. :-)

1 John 2:15-17, "Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains forever."
The Bible clearly mentions that this is due to our sinful desire to show others what we have even if its beyond our means. It is something that originates from this present system of things.

human nature for one. king James ten commandments-do not covet what your neighbor(Friends or anyone else) has. look inside and out as to your own precious gifts already given you that no on else has and thank God for all. to live beyond your needs will only put you in debit. God says "do not be in debit to the world. we are not of this world and better things await us.If this were not true "i would of told you" stay strong to God and know he is your father and will take care of all you ask for. do not be greedy.we are not of this world.

It is just human nature. We try to impress people we don't like maybe because we are intimidated by them or maybe just to show off.
