Depending on how long it has been since you drank, if it was within 12 hours i would say start first by eating some bread or crackers to try and absorb any alcohol that is left in your stomach. But if its a day after kinda thing DRINK WATER and lots of it i cannot stress this enough, and for future reference to help avoid a hangover after you are done drinking DRINK WATER the hangover is caused by your body being dehydrated and you have to rehydrate. Alcohol dehydrates you like you wouldn't believe. You also could take aspirin or such for a headache and try to eat something like soup and crackers to get your stomach back in order. Sleep and time along with WATER lol will help you as much as you can be helped.

Here are a few things you can eat and drink the morning after to help with a hangover, but the best way to deal with one, is not to get it in the first place!

1. Eggs
Eating eggs the morning after provides energy like any other food, which is the primary benefit. But eggs do also contain large amounts of cysteine, the substance that breaks down the hangover-causing toxin acetaldehyde in the liver's easily depleted glutathione. Therefore, eggs can potentially help mop up the left-over toxins.

2.Bananas (if your in Australia, it would probably be cheaper to buy yourself another bottle of drink though!)
Eating bananas the morning after a night of heavy drinking provides lost electrolytes like any food would, but it also specifically replenishes the potassium lost to alcohol's diuretic effect. Other potassium-rich foods such as kiwi fruit or sports drinks work just as well.

3.Water
Replenishing the body's water supply after a night of drinking combats dehydration, and it also helps dilute the leftover byproducts in the stomach. Add salt and sugar to water helps replace the sodium and glycogen lost the night before. Non-caffeinated, non-carbonated sports drinks can achieve the same effect.

As a prevention method, drinking a glass of water for every alcoholic beverage slows down drinking, providing more time for the body to deal with the alcohol (the body can only process about three-quarters of an ounce of alcohol in an hour). Drinking a few glasses of water before going to bed helps fight dehydration after the body finishes breaking down the alcohol.

4. Fruit Juice
The fructose -- fruit sugar -- in fruit juice helps to naturally increase the body's energy. Studies have proven that it also increases the rate at which the body gets rid of toxins such as those left over from alcohol metabolism. Fruit juice is also a good idea the morning after because it is high in vitamins and nutrients that were depleted the night before because of alcohol's diuretic effect. Vitamin supplements high in vitamins C and B are also effective.

If you want to avoid it, drink plenty of water while you drink, and most especially before you finally go to bed, that is if you can still locate the fridge! :-)

when you wake up and feel like you're head is twice as heavy as your body, then it is obviously too late. still, the best way to get rid of your hangover is a pitcher of super cold water, and 2 Ibuprofen tablets. Drink water every hour or as often as you can.

Oh, one other thing - have vigorous sex - seriously, it's the most amazing cure for hangover!

Drink plenty of water while you are drinking. Try taking Advil or Tylenol before you get started. The big thing is to not get dehydrated while drinking, that's what causes the hangover symptoms.

I have always heard that the best hangover cure is another beer...You don't get drunk of course, lol, but you take a few drinks- not even half the can/bottle.

Drinking as much water as you can throughout the night, and even taking a tylonel before you sleep. Also gatorade reaaaallly helps instead of water if you've got it. Oh and lots of sleep. Try the gatorade.

Take a B complex vitamin before going to bed, along with plenty of water. It's a pretty good cure.

Drink a bloody mary. Next time you go out drinking, take a few drinks of water in between your drinks. It works. I learned it at bartending school.
