It means to cut the extra skin covering the upper tip of the male organ. This method is adopted by almost all races known as Semitic in the middle-east as a healthy practise done on boys between 6 to 12 years.
This method is in practise as a religious ritual among the Jews and the Muslims but justified as a hygienic device so that bacteria do not get collected at the skin-foldings and also as a means to maximise giving sexual pleasure to the female partners. Jews being both a race and a religion, do practise circumcision since at least the days prior to Moses and Judah. Instead of insisting on cleaning those parts they prefer to remove it altogether so that the possibility of uncleanliness at that part of the body is pre-emptied. But Islam being a missionary faith, all Muslims do it as a religious ritual and justify in the same way Jews do, as mentioned above. But Christians do not do circumcision as a religious practice. Some Christians imitate their Muslim counterparts with intent to enhance their virility.
But scientifically speaking removal of that part of the skin in no way enhances virility in the men, so long as sex is more a matter of mind rather than body structure. It is perhaps, in olden days peolple in Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Egypt etc, due to deserts were often not getting sufficient scope to take bath daily and females were the only source of mental and physical pleasures, in order to remove possibility of being unhyginic the practice was to altogether remove the foreskin on top of the male sexual organ which is called circumcision.

Dictionary.com defines circumcision as follows:
cir·***·ci·sion (sûrkm-szhn)
n.
The surgical removal of part or all of the prepuce. Also called peritomy.
The cutting around an anatomical part.
In other words, circumcision is the cutting away of the foreskin of the penis, which is naturally present in males. As my father is a pediatrician, I have previously viewed this procedure. If the practicioner is experienced, this procedure can be done in as quick as five minutes and is generally pain free (the surrounding area is numbed). In fact, my father has performed this procedure while a baby was once sleeping!

Circumcision is the removing of the flap of foreskin on a baby boys penis. The controversy comes from the Jewish community, because it is a thing they do to the young men at the age they are considered to becoming a man. They have a huge ceremony and the young man being introduced to his church as a man is circumcised at the party they call a brisk.
Sounds awful doesn't ti. Only boys are circumcised, girls have no need of it for any reason at all. They have a different party for the girls in transition of child to woman

it's the surgical removal of the foreskin of the penis, usually performed on infants. At one time it was considered medically necessary for hygiene and health, but that is no longer the case. Circumcised penises have reduced sensitivity, some argue that gives circumcised men more sexual endurance.
Many consider it cruel to subject an infant to such pain unnecessarily.
Circumcision is also a religious ritual of the Jewish faith.

It is removal of foreskin from the penis. It is a generally accepted practice in the United States to make it easier for the male to keep the penis clean and free from bacteria.
It began as a religious ritual in ancient times as a part of the Jewish faith.
However, it is not necessary if the male is taught proper hygiene.

People who think circumcision is wrong are ridiculous. I'm circumcised and I have plenty of sensitivity. It'd be annoying to have more stuff to keep clean down there.
Maybe some doctors mess 'em up, or something, and that's how guys lose sensitivity. I don't know about that.
