Obviously it's a name fot a male, and like a lot of names it'll more than likely be shortened to "Coop" Not a bad name, and the nick name of one of America's most famous and loved Hollywood actors, Gary Cooper. In case you;ve never heard of him, he stared in these movies; "For Whom the Bells Toll", a novel written by Ernest Hemmingway, "High Noon" and "Seargeant YorK", which was a dramatization of a Medal of Honor winner from WWI.

Coopersmith is an occupation. There's tin coopers, gold coopers, silver coopers. Whatever element they use in their profession determines what kind of cooper they are. Stave makers made barrels and casks, wheelwrights made wagon wheels, but their products required a metal ring to be fashioned and fitted around the wood to keep it from falling apart, so they also had to be a cooper.

How do I know these things? Because I'm old,, very old! I was old when you were born!! LOL

I like the name and would have never thought about the pooper scooper thing. But the person who said that is probably so right.
