Funny you should say this - my stepsister was just saying the exact same thing yesterday. She said she finally couldn't take it any more and when she next spoke to her mom in NJ (she's in Ca) she told her mom that she is looking for positive support in her life, that she has made her decision and her mom can either encourage her or she can just say nothing at all.
She said it worked a charm - that ever since then she has a new friendship with her mom that she never thought possible. Her mom is very supportive and tells her how proud she is of the life she is making her in CA and how she is managing job and school, etc.
Maybe you should try telling your mom how you feel.

it could be a number of things... my guess is that you are an only child and she is going through empty nest syndrome.... or she is just jealous of you and hates the fact that you could possibly end up doing better with your life than she did/is.
Although I'm sure she is just worried about your living so far away from home.

honey im a mom, some mother just arent ready for their babies to grow up. it makes some feel insecure, afraid, lonely, that they dont have any reason to live, their not useful anymore. dont let her get you down your going to college and i hope you stick to it and fullfil you dreams. just let your mom know that you love her and you still need her and that she hasnt lost you tell her that going to college is just a step you need to take in life to he able to return the love and care she once gave you.take care, good luck

she misses you. thinks you will give her up. you better do something for her. show her that you care for her. keep in regular touch with her. make her feel you are still her precious bundle of joy! empathise with her and the rest will be easy for the both of you.

Its a parent thing not wanting to let her child go. Give her time to adjust, she will adventually accept it.
