I had a boy cat who would sit on the bed and just stare at my face until I opened my eyes and then he would get right up and come over to my face and MEOW at me. It got to be a game - I would try to open my eyes so slightly that i was sure he wouldn't notice (that's how i found out he was watching me).
He was hungry - of course he wants attention first thing in the morning. I would have put out more food the night before to avoid this if I didn't think it was so funny.
Oh, he was a wonderful cat - Robspierre and his twin sister Esmerelda (prettiest thing you ever saw). A lovlier, more darling pair of calico / tortie cats we will never see again.

Yes! Well, my two cats used to either meow loudly or walk across me while laying in bed...one of my cats is pretty fat, so he'd somehow find the most uncomfortable way to stand on me, so I'd wake up. I've since moved (and have 2 two dogs, so they keep the cats away from the bedrooms), so this may not work, but you might try keeping your door closed. It sucks if you enjoy having your cats sleep by you, but if they can handle being outside the room without scratching at the door and/or meowing loudly outside, it might help. I think this is a very common problem....cats want our attention and they quickly learn that being loud and knocking things over will get us up and out of bed!

It could be that she wants food if you do not have the food out or it finished that includes water. Maybe she is locked in the room it could be that the door was left closed. She might just want attention, or something is bothering her. I have two cats of my own. I have a female she is only 4 months old, and sometimes in the morning she come crying to me I just talk to her and she comes and lays in my arms while I pet her, and she falls fast asleep.
The male sometimes does the same thing I go to him, and I pet him or carry him, and give him a kiss on the forehead, and that's it he stops. Of course sometimes I throw a shoe at him, lol. He is a year and 2 months old. I hope this helps.

My cat is usually just a stinker. If i dont leave the bedroom door open at night, he sits there and meows for a while, then scratches the door. he waits a minute, then starts over again. After a little while, he grows very impatient with me and starts banging his head against the door until I get my but out of bed, and either let him out so he can eat, or let him in after he's done eating.

Nope, but my friends have had this issue. The cat wanted food in the morning, so it would do whatever it needed to wake up its caregiver. Knocking over stuff on the dresser, definitely. Sounds like a hungry kitty that wuvs you.

We have a Bombay and every morning when the coffee pot finishes making the coffee, he will meow very loudly to let us know it is done. He won't stop until we get up. We don't need an alarm with this cat.

My husband's cat meows really loud, and in a deep tone- at 3 am. She picks up her tennis ball and brings it to the top of the stairs, drops it, then bats it down.
Repeat until crazy!

i have a cat that does annoying things in the morning also. if i don't get up right away when the alarm goes off, she will jump on the bed and lick my nose with that sandpaper tongue until i do. she usually wants to eat or go out. (she doesn't use the litter box alot, but will do her business outside). she also does that on the weekends when i don't have to get up. the thing that i do is just get up and either let her out or feed her and then go back to bed (if it's the weekend)

it's not a problem, they're telling you that it's time to wake up, my cats do that to my husband all the time. He used to have a job where he had to be up at 7am and he would set the alarm for 7am and if he wasn't up and downstairs by like 5 after, the cats would be in there yelling around until he got up. No "snooze" button for him I tell ya!!!! Now that he doesn't have to be up until 9am we listen to them for two hours because they think he is late!! Have fun.
