Well if you are serving them dinner late you have already broken the routine. ;) So now you have a few options : You can make them go to bed at a certain time but they won't know the difference as they don't know time. Or you can let them play like they normally would after dinner, bathe them and then put them together as is the normal routine(if that is your routine, if not put yours there ;) ) It is more important for the schedule to be the same with activities than with being on time. When they get older then time may play a factor but not yet.

Well, their routine is already kind of off for the day if you're late serving dinner, right? I don't think giving them 45 minutes or so after dinner to at least digest a bit would be a bad idea.

Eh, why not?? I do it sometimes. Its sometimes hard to get dinner on the table every night at the same time, esp if you have a hectic day, or if your hubby is late for dinner. It happens. I have 3 healthy children, that have never had a problem with their weight, so I dont think its a problem at all.

If you are ever late serving your child dinner, i suggest make it a light one so that they wont sleep on such a full tummy. Its hard for little ones to go to sleep that way. Also, i would look forward to changing a poopy diaper in the middle of the night or taking them potty.

No, it's not okay, because you're teaching your child it is okay to eat before you go to sleep, and that is the leading cause of obeseness..(sp) in america..Let him or her run around and go potty for an hour or so before you put him or her to bed..

Give them another hour or so. It won't upset their bed time that much. They should us the bathroom before bed.

No. They can have up to an hour leeway, in my opinion. Especially, if they need to eat!
