I'm 16 and 1/2 yrs old, I am 5'5 and weigh about 134lbs... Is that normal? All my friends say I look normal, but I think 134lbs is too much for someone my height... I've struggled a bit with eating disorders in the past, so I'm not entirely sure that I can trust my opinion, but I'm also worried my friends are just trying not to hurt my feelings...
When I look at myself, I see a girl who could definately lose 20-30 pounds and then I'd be an acceptable weight...

Ok... So far everyone has said I am normal... Would it be okay and safe if I went on a diet and worked out extra to lost 10-15lbs?

The way that doctors and other medical professionals determine if someone is a healthy weight is the Body Mass Index (BMI). Given your weight and height you have a BMI of 22.3. This number falls in the range of a healthy weight. Losing 20-30 pounds would put you into an underweight and unhealthy range. Losing 10-15 pounds would keep you in the range of a healthy weight, but it puts you very close to being underweight. I wouldn't suggest it. Your current weight is perfect for your height and will ensure that you are happier and healthier.

You're still growing! Weight shouldn't be an issue before you're in your 20s (unless you're way more than 134 and it's inhibiting you're daily life). But no, 134 is perfectly fine! Just stay active, do exercises every now and then and try to eat good, and everything will work itself out.

Check you BMI if you score 18-25 stay there and don't lose or gain weight. but based off of what you said, I think you would score about a 20, so You're good and normal

It depends a lot on your bone structure. But what you quoted sounds like a healthy weight. Next time you are in to the doctor, ask what your weight should be.

You should consult a physician, not your friends, and not a bunch of Yahoos on Answers. Your physician can tell you if you're maintaining a healthy weight or not, and you need to believe her. She won't steer you wrong.
