Your parents are older, wiser & more experienced with life than you are. They love you & don't want you to make mistakes that can affect you for the rest of your life. They are providing you with a place to stay & meals to eat, in exchange for this you have to go by their rules. Just like your parent's job, their employer is providing them with a paycheck and they have to obey the employer's rules. Rules & regulations are a part of life, right now you have to obey rules in school and the rules set by your parents. When you move out on your on, you'll have to obey the apartment's rules, pay the rent on time, and when your boss tells you to do something and it's work related you have to do as he says or find another job. A person's brain does not fully develop until age 18, in other words you're not old enough to make your own decisions. One day you may wish you didn't have so many decisions to make. Obey your parents, they want the best for you. One day you will have to obey your boss and remember he/she will not love you like your parents do.

Because kids sometimes don't understand everything completely. You're parents biggest job is to make sure you understand things, understand consequences of your actions, and to make sure that you can succeed in life and in public. You can't succeed from life unless you answer to someone. You have to be disciplined and follow rules, which your parents start teaching at a very young age. It's not because they think you are not able to make your own decisions, they just want to guide you and help you make the right decisions. They just don't want you to get hurt.

Because parents have been where you are at now. Yes parents can be a real pain at times but they are just trying to protect you from making the same mistakes that they made at your age. While you do have a brain you may not have all of the answers that would stop you from making a huge mistake that you would have to live with for the rest of your life. There are some things that you don't get a chance for a do over.

I used to think that way until I grew up and moved out....now there are times when I wish I still had someone telling me which decisions are the right decisions....parents only tell their kids what to do to prepare them to make the right choices for the day when they are not around.....when you have kids one of these days you'll do the same

Go to work and pay half of all the monthly expenses and I will be happy to give you half of all the descions! I give my husband half of all the descions even running to the post office to pick up bills and mail them. You should go to work for some idiot and realize how much fun the real world is my friend. You have no idea how much you are missing especially when the bill collectors call and harass you because you cant pay your bills. Its a very expensive world to live in and i think it would be appropriate for you to at least get a part time job to appreciate how hard life is going to be for you later. You just don't have a clue yet! YOU JUST WAIT!

You are going to do what the ^%$# you want to anyway ...I just hear you screaming that out ! One thing you don't even hear is the love from your parents ! Been there done that ... you don't think that they can help you be a better person by just LISTENING ? I know you know everything ... everybody does (NOT) .... but sometimes you aren't always right ! You want to be an adult ... than talk to your parents like one ... then you may not feel like they are pushing you around ... and you will get the respect that you want ... respect is a two way street ... give it ..get it !

the hard part is for YOU to realize that we parents were KIDS at one time too, and WE had to follow rules and boundaries too.....
and I for one have realized that those rules and boundaries were set up for the most part for MY protection.... I look back and wish I had realized it then...... maybe my life would have turned out different or I should say a tad better...... I have a wonderful life, don't get me wrong, but there is soooooo much out there that I could have done.... but I have NO regrets really....... just dreams that I had to give up because I thought I knew it all back then...... so relax and enjoy your young life and respect your parents and think about just what it is that they are trying to protect you, their child from...... read the papers and listen to the news !! you will find out real quick why parents have those rules and boundaries....... and YES we love it when our children use their OWN MINDS, if only they used them for the GREATER GOOD for themselves............ God bless

Well speaking as a mom and grandma and of course a former kid. Because kids dont always make the right choices. Besides we want to keep our kids from harm and making mistakes that last a life time.I dont know about your parents but your thoughts and imput should be considered but if its harmful to you or can cause harm then its a big NO.

Because kids make stupid decisions for themselves and can make bad choices because they havent had as much expedience in life as their parents. bad choices can lead to bad outcomes in life and cause long term damage. There are some bad kids out there and youre probably a good kid, but some are just dumb. I f my parents didnt tell me what to do, who knows where id be. Youll understand in the future.
