White or Eggshell. You do not want to have strong colours as you may not have the same tastes as the buyers. A strong colour scheme could prevent them from seeing their vision of how they would setup the house and could affect the final sale. Of course, if you already had a good quality paint job with strong colours, then I would not recommend painting over it unless you were having a lot of trouble selling the house.

On the inside do neutral colors. Not white. Use light colors. Like a really light tan or beige. Light and bright. Makes your home feel bigger and brighter. Any new paint will be good, but go neutral and go light to make the rooms bright. Bright does NOT equal bold colors like yellow or green. Neutral neutral neutral. On the outside... Tan with Hunter Green Trim, Light Gray with white or Dark Blue trim or White with Black trim. All will be eye catching and are aesthetically pleasing and will blend with the rest of your neighborhood enough to make the block look good as well as make the new paint still stand out. Good luck selling your house

While many people tend to play it "safe" with a white or neutral tone, the best paint colors highlight the architectural details of your home and make the rooms of your home look beautiful and inviting. You want your prospective buyers to feel that they could move in without having to change a thing.

1. Architecture. If you live in a craftsman bungalow or a Spanish revival home, look in magazines like Sunset or Traditional Home for color palettes that are true to the style. Does your living room have crown moldings or other details? You can play these up by choosing accent trim colors that stand out against your walls. The architectural details of your home make it unique, so use color to showcase these.

2. Room Size. Big living rooms can look cavernous rather than cozy if you paint them stark white. What mood are you trying to create? I had a modern house, and I painted my living room and staircase a French bistro yellow. The person who bought my house told me that it reminded her of her Parisian honeymoon!

3. Lighting. Regardless of what colors you end up selecting, the wrong lighting can make a room look harsh and uninviting. Think about replacing lightbulbs with warm lighting that flatters your features.

4. Test it! Before you commit to a color, paint a color swatch on the wall of your room and see how it looks in the morning, afternoon, and evening. Sometimes a brown that looks pretty in the morning will turn muddy looking in the evening, and you never know when a realtor might be showing your home to a prospective buyer.

Good luck with your color selection, and remember: think about colors that look beautiful with the furnishings and space. Whites and neutrals are not always your best bet.

Depends on the surroundings, neighborhood, and style of house.

Many times for a basic frame house with no particular special design effects or historical ordinances, white inside and out helps to prospective owner envision it as their own with less intrusion from existing design elements. There are many times when this is not the recommended choice.

If it is a Frank Lloyd Wright creation, this is one of many possible examples of when greater expertise is strongly recommended.
Ask an experienced Realtor in your vicinity for recommendations.

Inside? White or just off white. Colors may upset buyers they may love them but chances are they won't. Color must be painted over white/ off white say navajo white are mellow the accepted norm they can repaint with minimal fuss because you don't need to prime over the top and could live with for awhile. Besides white also brightens a room and makes it seem larger.

White. Everything white, including the ceiling. Can use the same paint on the walls, as well as the ceiling. Opens thing up greatly, and if the new owners want to repaint, it is very easy to paint over white.
