My son (vegetarian) has horrible acid reflux. Takes medication, but I would like to know I am not adding to the problem with the foods and beverages we have. I know fried foods are not a good thing, but what fruits and veggies are good? Also, how about nuts and peanut butter?

i have it. i have to take nexium for it...any acidy fruits like lemons, oranges, cherries, kiwis, are terrible. grapes, bananas, pears, apples(red) are good for it. pop and fruit juices are not that great. veggies are good, they are bland. but tomatoes are nt too good for it. and make sure he doesnt eat after 6 pm because since he has this it means that he doesnt digest as quickly as you and it will just sit there in his esophogas and he will be miserable......genler100@yahoo.com if u nd to know anything else...i feel for him...i go through this everyday.

I'm 46 and have had reflux for years, Has your son tried Nexium? Since I switched from Prilosec to Nexium it has made a huge difference. I eat anything I want and very seldom have any problems. One thing you need to keep an eye is Barrett's Esophugus, I have it from all the years of reflux. If your Doctor hasn't mentioned this you need to ask him about it. Good Luck.

stick with whole grains and pasta. Some veggies can be disruptive, and most citrus. Check with webmd.com for more.
