Umm I would suggest the Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble Cars! LOL Your two feet would get you there safest...especially with the high cost of gas these days! But seriously I would say any car that gets good gas mileage..for example a honda hybrid or any of the hybrid cars.

Anything BUT an SUV really. Some kids can handle and SUV, but it takes practice. I have friends with SUV's and they all drive like animals seeming to think the SUV will protect them no matter what. A big sedan or coupe is the best bet. And buying it themselves is key.

The best type of car for young drivers is one they buy themselves. They appreciate it better, so take better care of it, and tend to drive safer in it. Also chances are the car will be older and therefore safer, and require less insurance.

get em an old beater and make them take care of it they will learn to appreciate what they have, too many silver spoons put on mouths these days ALSO get a GPS tracking device to make sure Jr. or Sally is ACTUALLY at the foot ball game and not at friends getting drunk or high
