the ones about slavery raping and other cruelties. because it shows that humans wrote the da mned thing!
thomas paine:
Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and torturous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness, with which more than half the bible is filled, it would seem more consistent that we called it the word of a demon than the Word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize mankind.
It is from the Bible that man has learned cruelty, raping and murder; for the belief of a cruel God makes a cruel man.
Of all the tyrannies that afflict mankind, tyranny in religion is the worst. Every other species of tyranny is limited to the world we live in, but this attempts a stride beyond the grave and seeks to pursue us into eternity.
The Christian religion is derogatory to the Creator in all its articles. It puts the Creator in an inferior point of view, and places the Christian devil above him. It is he, according to the absurd story in Genesis, that outwits the Creator in the Garden Eden, and steals from Him His favorite creature, man, and at last obliges Him to beget a son, and put that son to death, to get man back again; and this the priests of the Christian religion call redemption.

One Bible verse I like the most is John 14:6. It basically says that the only way a person gets to Heaven is by trusting in Jesus. All of these big churches today say that the only way to Heaven is to pay them to get you there. Others say that good deeds and charity will get you there. Jesus Himself made it clear how we are going to get to Heaven. God bless you!

Love thy neighbor. I have a whole web page on this called "a new religion." It is the only thing in this physical world that Jesus says to love. He does not say to love a book, building or place even though many act like these are more important than people.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. ISAIAH 41:10. KJV HOLY BIBLE. why?.....When I was very, very sick and the Doctors could not find the reason for my illness, and could not help me,so I became very despondent, and thought I would soon die and leave my six children, so I phoned a very devout woman of God whom I`d known since child hood, and she prayed with me on the phone. I could barely take a deep breath but she told me to start telling God Thank you,.. and I did. The more I said "Thank you Jesus", the more my breath began to come back. After the prayer she told me to keep praising God, ,"so I did" and before I knew it I was dozing off into sleep, All of a sudden, I heard a very small, soft, sweet Voice in my ear, saying, "fear not" "fear not" Then I heard the sound as it were very tiny fluttering of wings, so I turned over on the sofa where I was laying, and asked my Mother -in-Law, who was in her bdrm. did she say something? she said, no... So I saw my Bible on the back of the sofa where I`d been laying, I took and opened it,and it just opened on the above Script. ISA.41st. chapt. and my eyes was fixed on the 10 th verse which reads "Fear thou not": Just as the Voice had said "Fear Not" "Fear Not". and God Healed me, PRAISE GOD! "Thank you Jesus" that was in 1978 and I`ve not been the same since.

"In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God..." John 1:1 and "... The Word became flesh and dewlt among us..." John 1:14.
Amongst all the religions and denominations, to only way to seek the truth is to find it in the oringal word is it's original form (language). In my opinion, Spirituality and faith combined with a personal relationship with God trumps any Christian Denomination...

I love the whole Sermon on the Mount, especially the Beatitudes and what's commonly refered to as the Lilies of the Field. Enclosed:
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26: Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27: Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28: And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
29: And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30: Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31: Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32: (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
33: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Used to be the famous John 3:16, now my favourite is Revelations 13:18, as it warns us about the existance of the Beast (also know as Satan) who wants to grab hold of the entire world's loyalty. 666 is very significant of the presence of Satan.

Hectortuba: Adam & Eve sinned against God, offending His infinite holiness. God is infinitely good and He is fair and just. Considering what we all deserve for sinning (eternal punishment) against God, you would be grateful God chose to have mercy on Adam and Eve by giving us such a light punishment for the heavy act of iniquity. Because God is infinitely holy, all sins against Him are infinitely offending to His infinite holiness.

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
(Galatians 2:20)
As we grow in our walk with the Lord, Paul gives us a great model to follow. Nothing matters except Christ.
