Walmart carries a variety of characters or solid colors.I am sure your prek son is into a cool character.I have seen everything from colors to spiderman, hulk, veggie tales, etc. etc.Just keep looking until he finds that perfect one. This is first year at a wonderful chance to grow.Be there every step of the way and I hope all turns out well.

I got my friend's son a back-pack that he loved at Toys R Us. Also, kids are into hanging stuff from their backpacks. You could get a plain one, then add your own touches of things he likes. Keychains can hang from the zippers. You can go to the craft section of your store and find things you can iron or sew onto the back-pack. That way his bag will be unique and suit his personality. If he likes Disney stuff, the Disney store also usually has a cute selection of back-packs.

I got my son a Spongebob one at KB Toys. They have really cute ones there. Also, LL Bean has some really cute ones, like lizards and such, and they're really durable!
