No. Not a snowballs chance in hell. The United States would never become a Third World Nation. At least not in the foreseeable future.
Too much education infrastructure, too much road and water infrastructure. Even if part of it broke down, too much left before it all breaks down. Too much economic infrastructure. Too much military infrastructure.
The thing that went wrong in New Orleans is that their infrastructure was crumbling because of the crumbling tax base due in large part to white flight.
In 2002, the New Orleans Times-Picayune ran an article about how it wasn't a matter of if, but when a hurricane hit, that the city's levees couldn't sustain a level 3 hurricane. Katrina was a level 4.
But New Orleans isn't a Third World Nation, either. It is a city where the infrastructure was in bad shape before a hurricane hit and cause the whole system to break down.

The increase in deficit, the high cost of living, the fact that wages are not growing with the rate of major purchases such as houses and cars, Illegal immigration creates an even more imbalance to the system, shrinking the middle class, raising the lower class enabling the rich to get richer from not having to pay taxes, medical, dental, workmans comp, and lower wages....do i need to go on? this example is based on california only, but if california and newyork go bankrupt americas ecomony is toast. All we would have left is agriculture and that isnt enough to sustain the entire country esspecially if the infrastucture collapses. Bush as far as i know keeps printing money too, lowering the worth of the USD. many international companies are making trades in euros instead of USD because of the war, and the fluxuation of the stock market due to over printing of cash and the housing market slowdown. any more negatives?..... oh yeah corruption in the Ca government budgets not being spent correctly or even on what they are budgeted for.... not to mention things cant last forever you know? America wont hold it position as the most powerful country. its impossible it has never happened before in the history of man kind. we will be no differant than mexico is less than a 100 years i would say.

Nothing, I don't believe it for a minute. However if we continue to allow everyone that can sneak into this country in......we are headed for serious problems. One only need look at France and Canada to see the social caos that is being created. These are the kind of irrational, no basis in fact, statements that cause the weaker minds to jump on the extremest bandwagon.

I don't think you know the definition of third world nation.
It refers to the Human Development Index of the UN. The US is currently rated #10, squarely a first world nation.

Again, third world is for the Middle East including parts of Africa. It's geographic more than economic. We are the west, russia and china are the east, and the Islamic countries and others there are the third world.

I saw the videos of the aftermath of Katrina... where the people were robbing and looting and shooting up the place. A big natural disaster or economic collapse would spread that same effect all over the place.

the amount of illegal mexicans entering our country. if this continues, with them sneaking across the border with their three wives and twelve children, we'll be a third world nation in a matter of years.
