Rather buy the V50, immediately - more car for the money and better resale possibilities.
S40 really have a great loss of value!

If you wait until the automaker rolls out the 07's and then get the 06 you will recieve a buyer credit because the car isn't new anymore. The chance that the cars are different is slim because Volvo isn't going to make any changes until 08.

You should see the new models around september normally.
I test drive Volvos for work. S-40 is okay in 06.
But if you want to hold up a bit. You might be surprised at whats coming in the S-80 model--Allwheel drive supercharged.
I also have test drove for Jaguar--I think the S-80 is a step up from the Jaguar X-type which would be about the same class

You can purchase the 2006 model for a cheaper price because Volvo is currently having their year-end sales event. You could wait until august to purchase the 2007 vehicles as the factory is closed for one month over the summer, but you wont see any difference with the vehicle (until the 2008 model year!).

The 07's should be making it to dealerships in Aug. The factory in Sweden closes for a month over the summer. Dealerships are cutting prices on 06's to make room for the 07's.
