because *** hole people and the news stations always show the bad, but never the good things Pitts do.. Pitts are used for search and rescue and many different things, but do you ever see those dogs on t.v. or in the paper for all the good they have done,or the lives they have saved?? hell no.people don't even give them a chance, they just assume they are killer dogs!! and it is so frustrating..

With the way the news show pit bulls it is hard to make people believe that they can be kind, loyal and loving family dogs. People should hate and want to put in jail for a very long time are the Dr.Frankensteins who make monster out of dogs. It is not enough to just put them in jail for a year or 2, and that is what most end up doing because it is not consider a real crime.

Because the dog has such a bad reputation! You hear stories about one bad-seed dog biting a child (or worse!) and people automatically assume that every little bully baby out there is just as vicious.
What people don't realize is that while the enviornment a dog is exposed to is a factor, as is "how it's raised/trained" (as you always hear), sometimes dogs are just plain mean, and there's nothing you can do about it. It's just that when you get a dog that is that strong and finely muscled, they do more damage.
And my bad-seed theory is just as true for Pits, Rotweilers, Dobermans or any of the "mean breeds" (and yes, I am being sarcastic) you can think of as it is for the poodles, shih tzus and cocker spaniels of the world!
Man, have you ever met a nasty shih tzu or cocker?! I'd take my chances with the bully or the rot! :)

I saw a pitbull try to attack my 3 year old sisters and then attack and almost kill my dog.
I know other dogs can be aggressive too, but the jaw strength of pitbulls makes them far more deadly for their size than other dogs.
I don't have a problem with people owning them as long as they are kept restrained at all times, or who live in the country. But I don't think that they should be kept in populated areas where they have the possibility of escaping and harming people and pets.

Its a shame innocent pit bulls in my community are being put down just because they are pits. No matter how friendly or young or old they kill them all. I Iuv them & agree its how they are handled. I worked at shelter & seen other breeds more untrustworthy be adopted out while a sweet pit had to die. I quit as soon as i seen all this going on. We need to voise are opinion some how to stop the pit killings unless they are agressive from improper handling.

They have never owned one. I breed pit bulls I have never had any trouble, and have had many other dogs. They are one of the smartest, loyalest and most loving breeds of dogs I have been around. I have many other animals including cats, birds, lizards, poultry. I take my dogs to the dog park and the get along great with every dog there. My dogs have never harmed any animals or people. They are around many children too. They are such happy dogs. My cats think that they are dogs they sleep, eat and even play with my pack of pit bulls. From my experience their aggresivness is on fault of the owners, who do not raise their pits right, are not educated enough to raise this type of breed, or ignorant people make their dogs like this and give this wonderful breed a bad rep

I would have to say that pitbulls are a very loyal breed and that they are extremely kind if they are raised properly. If they are abused or not trained correctly they can turn out to be mean as with any dog. But due to their size if they are mean they can cause more damage and be extremely aggressive.

Because they are misinformed, it is the people that make pits bad not the pit. I think Pits are one of the most loyal, gentle, loving dogs I have ever seen.

It's a stigma thing. Ignorant (in the kindest sense of the word) people think they are vicious mean tempered dogs. This is because of horrible people who raise them to be that way for fighting or just out of meanness. You could train a teacup poodle to be a vicious dog if you wanted to. In all actuality, they are great family dogs, & they are especially patient with kids. I'd trust a well raised pitt with my kids well before I'd trust a well raised cocker spaniel.

Pitbulls (especially the males) are unpredictable and they have jaws like a vice grip. You'll think they're cute and cuddly and misunderstood until one day one of 'em kills your child just for doggy fun!
Get a Labrador retriever if you want a sweet natured dog.
