The major taste groups are sour, sweet, salty, and bitter. I can think of all kinds of examples for the first three. But what are examples of BITTER foods?

My brother used to suck his thumb and I tasted some of the stuff they painted on his thumb...it was a hundred times more bitter than any food I have tasted. If the thumb sucking medicine is not working, maybe your daughter LIKES the taste of bitter stuff...making a food paste is not going to work.

Don't know if this counts, but I'm a huge fan of bitter beers. These generally contain more hops, or are filtered through additional hops during the brewing process. Some of them can create quite a pucker!

Almonds tend to be bitter and if you are looking for a classic example many poeple can relate to try soap.... I know it isn't food but most ahve had their mouth washed out and tasted soap. Alum I think is the name of a bitter spice.

Nuts can be very bitter. Especially Brazil nuts and Filberts.

Juju beans. They're really bitter. They taste like you want to spit it out. They're from some country (i cant remember what its called sorry.).

there is one called bitter melon, or bitter gourd, local to asia
go to an asian grocery store and you will find it
