what does "cola a run for its money" mean?

the whole text is

"it really sounds like Vodka is gonna cola a run for its money."

I have no idea what does this mean...

"is gonna give cola" would be what it says and it means more people will start drinking cola than vodka. I can't imagine that vodka is more popular than cola.

in that text it means that that vodka would give cola competition... it sounds like more people are going to be interested in vodka than cola
